At 37 years of age, LeBron James is having one of the greatest seasons of his career and he’s about to become #1 on the all-time scoring list.
LeBron James has pretty much been averaging 25+ PPG since birth, but to do it consistently throughout his entire career and into the age of 37, is just one mark of his greatness.
For the past few seasons, LeBron has constantly had people thinking to themselves, “He has to slow down this year…”, “He’s 36 years old. There’s just no way he can keep this up…”
Whatever it may be.. people have definitely been questioning whether or not LeBron still has some gas left in his tank.
Well, in season 19, it is safe to say that LeBron James has conquered Father Time. There is just not much you can say anymore. It is clear that LeBron is from another planet.
LeBron James is averaging 29 PPG this season. This is his highest scoring average in over 10 years. Dating back to when he was in his “prime” in 2009-10. I don’t even know if you can consider LeBron to have had a true prime. He has just had different primes and styles of play throughout his career. He adapts his game to any situation depending on the team he’s on – and as you can see with this Lakers team he must be a pre-dominantly an aggressive scorer and he’s been just that.
Where LeBron James Stands
For total points, LeBron James is just games away from surpassing all-time scoring leader – Kareem Abdul-Jabaar.
In this case, we are talking total points from the regular season and playoffs combined. Kareem is at 44,149 points and LeBron James is now a little over 100 points away at 44,045. LeBron will eclipse this record and take the throne in just a few games.
No, this won’t be the official record since the NBA separates the regular season records from playoff records, but on a list that technically trumps all – LeBron will be #1 very soon.
As for the official record, LeBron James is still around 2000 points away.

For a player that has been a pass-first guy throughout his career, it is remarkable that he is even in the top five of the all-time scoring list.
Part of the reason for this is his longevity. No other player in history has played this well into their late 30s. This is a simple fact.
The most PPG by a player at the age of 37+ is Abdul-Jabaar and he averaged 23.4. LeBron also just broke Kobe Bryant’s record for 25+ points in 17 consecutive games for players in season 15 and beyond.
Watch as LeBron reads the minds of the Nets on back-to-back plays and slams it down with ease. At this point in his career, his ability to read the game is off the charts. He has been in the league since before some players were even born. Bron is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

LeBron James is a morph of all of the G.O.A.T’s into one.
One night he’s showtime like Magic, the next night he could be hitting fadeaways like MJ, he has his nights where he knocks down 3s like Curry, dunking all over the squad like Shaq, the list goes on…
His longevity, adaptability, and overall consistency throughout his career is what places him into a category of his own.
LeBron may not be your greatest player of all time, but I think he’s solidified himself as THE greatest all-around player ever.
