There is still an ounce of hope that Zion Williamson will make his highly anticipated return to the court at some point this season.
There are only around 20 games left to be played, but that should still give Zion a couple of months to fully recover and return at the very end of the regular season if not the playoffs.
NBA fans have been left in the dark all season when it comes to updates on Zion’s official status. The New Orleans Pelicans have kept things extremely vague as far as releasing updates on Zion.
But with the latest news dropped by Shams, there is still a chance that he may return.
Pelicans’ Zion Williamson is returning to New Orleans after spending time in Portland for his foot rehab, sources tell me and @WillGuillory. Williamson is cleared to progress in basketball activities. Pelicans have won four straight games and are in playoff race.

Zion is finally returning to New Orleans. He’s been MIA in Portland doing rehab on his foot for the past few months and we haven’t heard or seen from him since.
This is great news to hear that he’s not only returning but he’s also cleared for basketball activities. While “basketball activities” could really mean anything as simple as shooting a basketball, it still seems to be good news. There were rumors that he may have to have a second surgery, but now that doesn’t seem like that’s going to be the case.
All it took was a 4 game winning streak for the Pelicans to reel him back over to NOLA. In contrast to what everyone else thinks, I do believe Zion wants to be in New Orleans and play for the Pelicans. He seems like he likes to be out of the spotlight, not in it, and that’s why New Orleans is an ideal location for him to play. Not under the bright lights in LA or New York.

The Pelicans are currently in the 10th seed which is the final spot for the playoff play-in tournament. With how they’ve been playing they should be locked in for the 9 or 10 seed.
The New Orleans Pelicans are currently on a 4 game winning streak taking down the Lakers, Jazz, Suns, and Kings.
